She holds a BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University and is an alumni of BADA: Midsummer in Oxford (in Association with the David Geffen School of Drama).
They are trained in Clown Through Mask with Jonathan Young.
Michela is skilled in devising electric and strange works using physical theatre/mask, puppetry, heightened text, and a shared joy of (often unhinged) playing. She was a Creative Curations Resident with TinShed Theatre Co. in Newport, Wales where she developed a two-person clown show with Véro Matheny.
She recently made her Off-Broadway Debut at Classic Stage Company as a part of the 24 Hour Plays: Nationals ‘24 Acting Cohort.
She has worked with South Dakota Shakespeare Festival (Much Ado About Nothing, Stage Your Change Education), The Fool Volk (Titus Andronicus, Johanna D’Arc, Trying for Hedda), Moxie Incubator (Carpal Tunnel), Dyke Theater Co. (Homebody), The Makers’ Ensemble (are you listening?), and Newport Live Act Fringe (I’m a mistake and I shouldn’t be here).
Michela is the drummer for the no-man-band EmmaLee & The Dream. They can be found playing in any and every indie venue in NYC.
In their spare time, you can find Michela biking around Brooklyn, caring for their community garden (Maggie’s Magic Garden), reading tarot cards and astrology charts for friends and strangers alike, and marveling at tulips.
Michela Murray is a recipient of the Nettleton Memorial Endowed Scholarship (2018) and the Julia K. & Adolph Olsansky Endowed Scholarship (2019).
