She holds a BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University and is an alumni of BADA: Midsummer in Oxford (in Association with the David Geffen School of Drama).
Michela has a passion for telling coming-of-age stories that explore female rage and celebrate the beauty and grotesqueness of girlhood. She is skilled in devising bizarre theatre using movement, puppetry, and a shared joy of (sometimes unhinged) playing.
Recently, she was featured in Never Forget That Jasper Cullen Was a Confederate Vampire by Salwa Meghjee at Classic Stage Company as part of the 24 Hour Plays: Nationals ‘24 Acting Cohort.
Passionate about new works, Michela has been involved in productions such as Koi-Coy directed by Danica Selem, The Cutoff by Sophie McIntosh and directed by Nina Goodheart, and the World Premiere of Honey Girls directed by Carlos Murillo. She devised an experimental production of Titus Andronicus in the role of Lavinia at La Mama ETC in collaboration with The Fool Volk.
Michela is a drummer in the queer-no-man-band EmmaLee & The Dream, which has allowed her to tap into her internal fire in a very raw and authentic way.
In her spare time, you can find Michela biking around Brooklyn, caring for her community garden (Maggie’s Magic Garden), reading tarot cards, and marveling at tulips.
Michela Murray is a recipient of the Nettleton Memorial Endowed Scholarship (2018) and the Julia K. & Adolph Olsansky Endowed Scholarship (2019).
